Pope's Old VW Fetches $244,000

A 1999 Volkswagen Golf said to have once belonged to Pope Benedict XVI was sold for $244,000 in an auction on eBay’s German site. A spokesman said the new owner was the online gambling site Golden Palace of Austin, TX, whose chief executive said it planned to put the car on tour, “allowing people to enjoy the experience of sitting in the divine car.” The German seller said he bought the car for $12,0900, when the pope was still cardinal Joeseph Ratzinger.
