Tourism and Terrorism

There is currently a huge security contingent on the Staten Island Ferry and at the terminals: uniformed unarmed minimum-wage watchmen; U.S. Coast Guard; N.Y.P.D.; and a pack of well-behaved bomb dogs. Tourists flock to the ferry. How can security tell a tourist from a terrorist? Tourists pet the bomb dogs. (Terrorists scurry past.)

I like the phrase bomb dogs. I can't get over it. Bomb dogs. As if their identity is utterly dependent on sniffing out bombs.

I tried to think of similar adjective-noun combos.

Pack animals.

Dairy cows.

Fish food.

Laboratory monkeys.

Guide dogs.

Race horses.

I love how each one is totally defined by their function in regard to humanity and there is no freedom or free will outside of that definition.
